We work everyday to increase the quality of education in underprivileged areas. Join us.
We started work on this project in November 2013 after Alessandro spent some weeks as a volunteer teacher at the Himalayan Cultural School in rural India. While teaching, Alessandro was exposed to the multitude of problems that the school has: low levels of teacher training, a lack of opportunities in extracurricular activities, geographic isolation, and a classroom environment that fails to stimulate vital critical thinking skills. We realized this problem wasn't only limited to this school either. It is part of the full-blown crisis in educational quality in developing countries around the world.
The organization itself was founded April 21, 2014 in the United States, and was registered as a separate legal entity in Germany in August 2014. One of the first tasks was building a website for our first partner school, the Himalayan Cultural School. We then held our first fundraiser in Paris, France in May 2014, and the funds were used to purchase the school’s first computer and printer, some teaching supplies, and prizes for a Sports Day Event at the school. A site visit took place in September 2014, where project plans were formulated in conjunction with local school and community leaders, and a Memorandum of Understanding was signed.
We don’t just engage in projects, however. We believe we can fundamentally change the way nonprofit work is done. We cultivate relationships with other nonprofits, businesses, and above all local partners. We want to create a movement, not just a charity. Our dedication is to always work with local partners in underdeveloped areas to help them develop their own capacities and ideas, and we believe the best way to do this is by helping improve the quality of education in these areas. Our philosophy is a sustainable one, and we are always thinking in terms of the long run. Although our team and the scope of our projects remain small at the moment, our ambitions are large and our volunteers and supporters are an enthusiastic and dedicated group of individuals.
Our main mission in this endeavor can be summarized simply, and is reflected in our name: expanding educational access through capacity building. We believe this is the most sustainable way to helping communities grow and develop. We welcome all and any kinds of support from people around the world who share an interest in this goal. Join the campaign and movement today.
There is a crisis in the developing world. 58 million children remain out of primary school around the world. Even as governments have taken a single-minded approach to addressing this issue, another problem has emerged: access to school is not always acc
